The Texas Association of City & County Health Officials (TACCHO) plays a critical leadership role in strengthening public health across Texas. As EduClasses prepares to attend the TACCHO Public Health Conference in Austin, we’re highlighting the essential work TACCHO does and how our online training programs support the needs of its members and the communities they serve.

TACCHO’s Role in Texas Public Health

The Texas Association of City & County Health Officials (TACCHO) serves as the unified voice for local public health departments across the state. Its work centers on strengthening and improving public health practice through leadership, education, advocacy, and professional development. TACCHO members guide their communities through everything from infectious disease response to chronic disease prevention, environmental health, emergency preparedness, and public communication.

By bringing together local health authorities, TACCHO creates a statewide network where leaders can share data, compare strategies, and collaborate on solutions that improve health outcomes for millions of Texans. The organization also plays a critical advocacy role, working to secure sustainable funding, modernize public health infrastructure, and support the workforce that keeps communities safe.

TACCHO is the premier statewide organization representing local public health officials and the departments they lead. Its mission is to strengthen and improve local public health practice through Leadership, Education, Advocacy, and Development (LEAD).

1. Leadership for Local Public Health

TACCHO members serve on the front lines of community health, providing:

  • Collection and analysis of community health data
  • Public communication on disease prevention and health promotion
  • Guidance on science‑based, data‑driven public health strategies

2. Education & Best‑Practice Sharing

Members collaborate statewide to:

  • Share proven public health practices
  • Improve planning and implementation of programs
  • Strengthen workforce skills through conferences and training

3. Advocacy for Stronger Public Health Systems

TACCHO advocates for:

  • Sustainable funding for local health departments
  • Improved public health infrastructure
  • Workforce development and data modernization

4. Development of Healthier Texas Communities

TACCHO supports initiatives addressing:

  • Infectious disease prevention
  • Chronic disease control
  • Environmental health
  • Emergency preparedness

The TACCHO Conference Message

Each year, the TACCHO Public Health Conference serves as a hub for collaboration and innovation. Public health directors, educators, researchers, and partner organizations gather to exchange insights, discuss emerging challenges, and strengthen the systems that protect Texas communities.

The 2026 conference in Austin continues that tradition, offering a space where local health departments can learn from one another, explore new tools and technologies, and build partnerships that enhance their ability to serve the public. EduClasses is honored to be part of that conversation.

The annual TACCHO Public Health Conference brings together hundreds of public health leaders and educators to:

  • Strengthen collaboration across Texas
  • Share research, data, and community health strategies
  • Build partnerships between health departments, academic institutions, and community organizations

This year’s conference on April 8 - 10, 2026 in Austin continues that mission.

How EduClasses Supports TACCHO Members

EduClasses provides online training solutions that directly support the workforce and compliance needs of local health departments. Through platforms such as FoodHandlerClasses.com, FoodManagersCertification.com, SellerServerClasses.com and others we help ensure that workers across Texas receive accessible, accredited training that meets state and local requirements.

Our courses play an important role in strengthening community health. Food safety training helps reduce the risk of foodborne illness. Responsible alcohol service education supports safer communities. Cannabis and cosmetology safety courses reinforce sanitation and regulatory compliance. Because our programs are mobile‑friendly, multilingual, and available statewide, they help local health departments reach diverse populations efficiently and consistently.

EduClasses also supports public health infrastructure by offering scalable training options for large agencies and employer tools that simplify certification tracking. This helps departments maintain compliance, streamline operations, and deliver standardized education across jurisdictions an important part of TACCHO’s broader goal of modernizing public health systems.

Looking Ahead to TACCHO 2026

As we join TACCHO in Austin this April, EduClasses looks forward to connecting with public health leaders from across the state. We’re excited to share how our training platforms can support their workforce, reduce administrative burdens, and help build healthier communities. Most importantly, we’re proud to stand alongside an organization that plays such a vital role in strengthening public health in Texas.

From April 8 - 10 in Austin, EduClasses will be on site to:

  • Connect with public health leaders
  • Share training solutions for local health departments
  • Explore partnership opportunities
  • Support TACCHO’s mission of improving the health of Texans

We look forward to contributing to the conversation on how education, compliance, and accessible online training can strengthen public health across the state.
